I am a Seattle-based User Experience Designer.
I'm currently a Principal Design Manager at Microsoft, envisioning and building products for the business sphere.
In early 2015 I joined the team that invented the Microsoft Teams product. Leading up to the product launch, my role was the mobile design lead. I then worked on the launch of the education version of Teams. I'm presently leading the team of designers working on Teams Core UX, covering Teams Messaging, Framework, and Education. I previously worked at Skype on the Surface Hub project as well as other hardware-based meeting room systems.
Prior to this, I worked on Microsoft's Connected Car team for a year and a half, designing safe UI for users under high cognitive load (drivers!)
I was a Creative Director at a firm called Redtech for two years, and before that I ran my own design consulting practice - Thad Scott Creative LLC.
At one time I worked on fishing boats in the Bering Sea and played bass in a few bands. Sometimes I made my own instruments.
I attended SUNY New Paltz (BS in Visual Arts) and Shoreline College (AAAS in Interactive Media & Photography)
I have a wonderful family and an almost unhealthy interest in a handful of sports teams. I play golf when the boss lets me.
I proudly grew up in Ulster County, NY.
